What Is Person-Centred Counselling?
The person-centred approach to counselling follows the belief that the client is the authority of their own experience and fully capable of achieving their potential for personal growth. A counsellor can offer support with a wide range of issues or with difficult decisions that need to be made. However, choice and control remains with the client at all times.
What can I expect when I arrive?
Having made contact via email or telephone you will be invited along to meet with one of our counsellors, where an assessment will take place. This will allow both you and the counsellor time to explore the difficulties you are experiencing and discuss the support available. If it is deemed that counselling is the best option for you, you be allocated a counsellor and given a further appointment.
What can I expect to gain from counselling?
- A listening ear in neutral and comfortable surroundings
- Better self-understanding and awareness.
- Information – It can be very difficult to make good choices without it.
- Positivity – It may help to look at our strengths and what we can do, rather than a focus on what we can’t do. People can often make better choices if they feel positive about themselves.
How long will the sessions last?
Each session will last for 50 minutes with up to six sessions available.
